Another "couples night" in the KNO song-circle this month ( NOTE THAT WE HAVE MOVED ACROSS TOWN AGAIN). And we are truly blessed, with two couples who've been making music for a good long time. In the case of Rick Beresford and Deanna Walker, they are now teaching others what they know, as well as presenting educational venues for seminars, workshops and lecture series on the subject. Rick also comes from a long line of recording success, with some notable cuts along the way (see below, but be sitting down first). As for Joe and Tree Brunelle, they've been singing and playingtogether for nearly 20 years now, all over the South and Southwest, and are veterans of Kerrville, as well as the Mike Williams Six Chair Pickin' Party that got this KNO thing started. We are delighted, both to have them back in Nashville and to welcome them to the KNO circle. Once again, Kathy's Night Off continues to raise the bar for Nashville music events, and this will be no exception.  As always, the best way to find out is to come out, and see and hear for yourself!

Rick Beresford is a songcoach, teacher, lecturer, staff writer and music producer, with a decidedly varied and colorful history. Highlights include:

SONGCOACH, TEACHER & LECTURER: Rick has been coaching individual songwriters since 1985 and teaches commercial songwriting at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. He is the director of the Kerrville Folk Festival Song School held in Kerrville, Texas each year and a curriculum writer and lecturer for The Nashville Songwriters Association International's song camps and Workshops. Rick has conducted 3 hour to 3 day seminars for songwriter's groups and conventions across the United States, Canada and England.

STAFF WRITER: Currently a staff writer with ZMG (Zavitson Music Group). Previously: Window Music and Silverline Music: 1978-85 Pete Drake's Company.

PRODUCER: (1) Shanley Del, BMG, Australia. Wrote, arranged, produced 1998 ARIA (Australian Grammy) Award winning Country Album of the Year album. (2) Two Rex Foster albums, 1989 and 1992.

DISCOGRAPHY HIGHLIGHTS: "If Drinkin' Don't Kill Me, Her Memory Will" sung by George Jones (BMI MUSIC Award, CITY NEWS Award); "Harmony" sung by John Conlee (BMI Award); "Especially You" sung by Don Williams (Title Track of album, Top 20 Single In England); "Taking My Time" sung by Everly Brothers; "Easy Come, Hard to Go" sung by Mickey Gilley; "Taking My Time" sung by Brenda Lee; "Born Again" sung by B.J. Joe & Tree Brunelle, a husband and wife duo, are the living embodiment of the phrase, "making beautiful music together." For the last decade they have been doing just that. From the campfires of Kerrville to the most respected halls, clubs, festivals, house concerts and listening rooms around the country, Joe & Tree have thrilled audiences with their insightful songs and flawless vocals.

The story of Joe & Tree simply comes down to love at first listen. Theresa heard Joseph's debut release Round To It, and knew she needed to see him perform live. A friendship developed and soon they were trading songs and harmonies. The blend was instant and natural. They married and have spent the last fourteen years in perpetual motion, writing, recording and touring. As a duo, and with their band No Strangers, they have released seven albums.

Sharing stages with the likes of Bruce Hornsby, Guy Clark, David Wilcox and Steve Earle, they have continued to grow and evolve as artists and performers. After a two year stay in Nashville, learning and growing professionally, the duo is once again making their home in the Hill Country near Austin, Texas. (Note: They've now returned to Music City and re-settled.) Whether they're in a crowded room at the South By Southwest festival in Austin or the quiet of the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, award-winning songwriters Joe & Tree consistently deliver a show that is both intense and friendly, musically polished but still human and accessible.
