| This month's lineup features a favorite couple,
and a favorite couple of theirs. Pete and Pat Luboff were last featured at Kathy's Night
Off last fall, when they filled up the Perry's back deck with players and pilgrims. (We
gave up on that idea due to the passing trains, and are back indoors for the duration
probably.) As songwriters, song coaches and facilitators of the Sounding Board songwriter
sessions, they've made their own niche in Nashville, from pop to country to rap tunes.
This time they bring along the duo of David Rivers and Alicia Jones, both of whom
have their own specialness, and come highly recommended. Come on out, and see and hear for
yourself! |
| Pat & Pete Luboff
have had cuts by Snoop Dogg ("Trust Me," the first single from
the platinum-selling album, Top Dogg) Patti LaBelle (gold album
and the title song for Body Language: the Musical), Bobby Womack
(No. 2 on Billboards Black Music chart), "Hometown, USA" from the John
Travolta movie Experts, Michael Peterson, and more. They
lead The Sounding Board songwriting think-tank in Nashville every Monday
night. The Luboffs are the authors of the Writers Digest book "88
Songwriting Wrongs and How to Right Them" and of "12 Steps to Building
Better Songs" (which they self-publish).
(Note: A longer version of this bio is available, but it is reportedly
"X-rated" ...)

Alicia Jones
got the writing bug at age 17, and began working with Joe Settlemires, an Oklahoma
City studio owner who was a key figure Brian White's early career. A vocal scholarship
took her to Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she studied for two
years, until deciding to move closer to the action with a degree in Recording Industry
from Middle Tennessee State University. She spent six years as National Membership
Director at Nashville Songwriters Association International, before becoming
Project Manager with the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences. Her
music has been described as "soulful with touches of R&B and pop," but she
shows her Sooner roots in the occasional country tune. Her most recent success was a
co-write with Mandy McCauley that was placed in an independent film starring Isaac
Hayes. Alicia is now working on her own album project aiming for an early 2007
release. Her influences include James Taylor, Sarah McLachlan, Anne
Murray, Carole King and Al Green. |
